Submission (#979) Approved

Faust didn’t know much about Halloween, other than terras pointing and yelling ‘cowboy!’ on Halloween… He didn’t understand the whole appeal of Halloween, as he’d never had someone explain it to him or share it with him. In the spirit of Halloween, Faust thought he’d try and share it with someone this year. He’d known Robbie for a while now, and he liked Halloween so, what could go wrong?
He’d bought a bunch of pumpkins to carve with Robbie, he just hadn’t found the time to ask if they wanted to carve pumpkins with him. The perfect time was today though, as Halloween was closing in fast and he needed to carve the pumpkins soon.
“Hey, Robbie… I’ve got some pumpkins waiting at home and I thought I’d ask if you wanted to carve them with me.” Faust did his best not to stutter in front of him. “Yeah sure, how many pumpkins you got?” They asked, disregarding his stuttering. “Like… Four.” Faust shrugged.

“That’s a lot of pumpkins, I dunno how you planned to carve all of those yourself man,” Robbie explained as they approached Faust's house. “I guess I just really like the spirit of Halloween.” Faust let out a small chuckle.
As they sat down at the table, they grabbed the small carving instruments and Sharpies. “Let’s get to carving then!” Robbie cheered, Faust sat stationary though… “Wait… Faust have you ever actually like, carved a pumpkin..?” Robbie asked quietly. Faust sat quietly, nodding awkwardly.
“Aw dude you should’ve told me, here I’ll show you how to carve one.” Robbie offered, sitting closer and grabbing a few tools. Faust watched as Robbie carved the first pumpkin, “Sharpie outlines where you want to cut, cut the top off, clean out the insides, and then carve away!” Robbie beamed. Faust nodded along, grabbing a pumpkin of his own and tracing the outline with a Sharpie. He grabbed one of the tools and sawed off the top of the pumpkin, scooping out the insides with a shovel.

Faust’s house smelled like pumpkin guts and looked like pumpkin guts. His house was poorly decorated with small paper bats and orange lights. He’d done his best knowing absolutely nothing about Halloween.
Robbie looked around, admiring the small but noticeable decorations. “Wow, you went all out compared to last year, huh?” Robbie chuckled, carving a little face into his pumpkin. Faust nodded, roughly sawing out what was an eye in his pumpkin.

Faust’s hands were cramping, but at least he was done with his pumpkin. They’d only managed to finish two of the four, but that was fine, they’d finish the final two tomorrow. Faust grabbed the pumpkins and gently placed them on the porch, placing small orange candles inside. “You know what? I think I like Halloween.” Faust said. Robbie let out a small laugh and waved as he headed back home.
