Prompt: Flower picking
--------
Cartin walks into a field of flowers
A few minutes after the last rain shower

They looked at a few flowers
and a lily or two,
And thought to themself,
"why not pick a few?"

And on they went to find
the best flower to pick
One that was simple and pretty would do the trick

However, they were bothered,
by a quote that was versed

They wondered why the prettiest were always picked first

However they didn't switch their plan,
as they began to run fast

To find a pretty flower,
one that could last.

They began their search
in the flower field

But once they reached the end of it,
they did not yield

They flew past the fields
and into the forest

To find the flower
that was considered to be the purest

Cartin was determined
to find the right flower

Thinking that if they ran fast enough,
they might find one within the hour.

Once they got to the forest,
it was a test

To find a flower
that stood out from the rest

They weren't intrigued by the flora, to say the least

Their chameleon friend saw the flowers as a feast

They found Daffodils, hyacinths, lilacs, and tulips

They weren't drawn to them either, and they became clueless

Why couldn't they find it? The flower that they wanted

They didn't want to return to the place were they started

Cartin stared deep into the forest and looked towards a swamp

Before going back to the flower field
with two swift jumps and a stomp

"I might just have to stay here" Cartin said to themself,
"A pretty flower has to be near!" They say, trying not to get overwhelmed."

And so they began, looking for one again

At the same place they started, but refused to end

They initially had the thought
of making a beautiful bouquet

But now they'd rather keep their thoughts on one flower today

A few more hours passed,
and some terraliens passed by

Wondering why Cartin
continued to try

To find not five, not ten, but one flower

One that they could cherish, one that their chameleon wouldn't devour

Cartin might have been overthinking,
as they noticed a rose

Their chameleon wouldn't eat it,
and it gets more pretty as it grows

It was a beautiful rose,
one that sparkled in the sun

And Cartin knew
that the flower was the one

However, Cartin was still hesitant to pick the rose

They felt like it would start to wilt,
and its life would come to a close

And so, they sat
and admired the flower

The one they were looking for,
for many long hours.
