Bear grinned as she checked out her costume in the mirror. While she had taken months to think about her costume, she needed more than months to decide on one. Halloween was the only time of the year adults and kids alike to get free grubs and embrace their inner child by dressing up.
The blouse felt light and airy around her, providing a soft hug at all times. The fancy hat she'd gotten was a pretty maroon with a strikingly green feather tucked into the hem that matched the pendant she wore. The boots didn't fit her paws much to her distain, but the little sword-holder fit around her tail! 3/4 pirate traits still is majority pirate so surely it's fine.
She also added some golden rings to the mix, pirates were supposed to be rich right? Carrying around coins would be a hassle too; maybe she'd just stick with that and call it good, she thought checking her outfit in the mirror once again.

Had she been told they were gonna go trick or treating tonight? Yes. Had she been told to get a costume? Totally. Did she actually do so? Cyra winced as she looked through her closet in an effort to find something. Of course not.
When she looked 'DIY halloween costumes' up online all she got were the cheesy ones, often the ones with tutus and bunny ears. To each their own, but that wasn't her thing at all. She didn't have anything against dressing up either, it was more just getting herself to get up and go out and find something that was the issue.
What was something halloween-y? How about a pumpkin? It's only a circle after all.
Peeking at her closet from her position in front of the mirror, she focused on a little flash of color nestled near the front. The orange jacket had been a gift for a friend who ended up moving away before Cyra could gift it to them. It was a little too big for her, but if she wore something puffy underneath maybe it would look somewhat round? She grumbled and returned to her closet with a new item in mind for her search.
Looking herself over and turning at angles proved futile as her doubt only grew after she tried on the jacket. While it looked round enough, the green hat looked stupid with the outfit and a pumpkin was the last thing she looked like. Maybe she had some ribbon or something that she could tie on a headband?
The neglected plant lay in the corner of the room, no doubt on it's way out, and Cyra had an idea. Being as gentle as you could as someone with her intentions, she sliced a few strands of green off some of the parts that had started browning. Reaching up above her head, she felt around for the hard rim that she'd known all her life.
It was a little closer than her horns were... and there. With a nail, Cyra shoved the greens under the binding of her visor. It didn't hurt, but it didn't feel comfortable at first; she could feel her scorpion stirring angrily.
Returning to the mirror she gave herself a once-over. It didn't look professional by any means, but she was only doing this for fun. No use stressing about it anymore, she was ready to go.

The air felt cool and refreshing on her face as Cyra stepped outside and closed the door behind her. It was already dark outside and the street was illuminated by pumpkins and the scattered streetlights that hovered over the gaggle of children who prowled the streets in bright costumes.
It was always interesting to see what the kids dressed up as; some of the things she used to watch as a kid had actually came back 'in' recently and it was nice to see others enjoy it too. She'd never tell anyone, but majority of her old costumes came from popular shows when she was younger. Time flies.
As she waltzed down the sidewalk to meet at their agreed randevu, the sound of doorbells and "trick or treats!" wrung in her ears like a song stuck on repeat. It sure was lively tonight.
Cyra could spot Bear from quite a ways away due to her large wings; it's always been useful for locating the smaller terralien. The large hat upon her head and obnoxious feather also made her easy to spot, although that wasn't a normal look for her.
"Fancy seeing you here," Bear grinned as she reached out for a hug that Cyra accepted, wincing as she worked on trying to bend without bumping off the hat and making it awkward. The height difference wasn't that huge, but Cyra was definitely still the tall one in their friendship.
"You're a halloween-aholic, even if I didn't want to be here you'd make me," she snickered back earning her a thump on the back as they detangled. "So give me the run down of your game plan tonight, how many houses are we planning to hit? These pants are stretchy so if we need to run to beat the crowds you know I'm down."
Cyra only found herself being interrupted by Bear's cackling. In fact, the terralien was doubled over in laughter in the middle of the sidewalk, no doubt concerning those who were witnessing the scene.
"I've trained you so well my friend," she choked out between laughs. "Come on, we got some free grubs to grab!"
