Hacking and slashing at things was a lot more fun than Artery initially anticipated.

Autumn had finally made it’s way around the corner, and with that came the Halloween Festival. Artery decided, for once in his life, to do some fun community service for the event! And what better way to spend his time than to slice up a few pumpkins as decorations? He managed to pick out a few larger ones from a nearby farmer. Of course it took him a hot minute to carry them back and forth, because his arms are the equivalent of wet noodles, but hey! He’s home, and he’s currently using his oversized claws to slice the tops off of every pumpkin. Good for him!

“Bleck-” With a scoff he scooped out the innards, throwing them down with a loud thunk on a paper plate. He was definitely gonna discard them later. He made sure to clean out every little seed on the inside like a weird perfectionist would. After washing his hands for way longer than he should’ve (better safe than sorry, he says), he stared at his now blank canvases. Great. He had finally hit the roadblock he was anticipating.

He had no ideas. Not a single one.

While he stared, he tilted his head like a confused puppy. He didn’t want to think too hard about this whole situation. So, he did what he thought was right.

He just slashed at them until they looked like something.

And boy, did he have fun.

He looked like a mad scientist building his next creature. He slashed at his pumpkins individually, cackling and tip-toeing around his kitchen while he carved with his sharp claws. A sharp smile was planted inside his visor as he laughed and sang along to the cheesy Halloween songs blasting through his radio. He carved as much as he could: chisling cheshire grins and wicked faces into their orange shells. Although maybe, just maybe… he went a little overboard.

Artery wiped imaginary sweat from his visor and stared at his masterpieces from a distance. They were incredibly sloppy, but he liked it that way. Each pumpkin had their own little personalities. He couldn’t help but laugh some more as he stared, clapping his paws together with glee. Though, he couldn’t help but wonder… how was he gonna carry all of these to the festival? He looked down at his paws in order to think.

Oh right. He still had to wash off that weird pumpkin slime on his claws.

Gross.
