Jett’s adventures with UFO-hunting had led him to a completely unexpected discovery of a different subspecies of his kind. It was hard to tell if they counted as the aliens he had initially deemed them, as they looked similar to him yet simultaneously different. Either way, it was more interesting than the generic aliens he had imagined.
As extroverted as always, he had wasted no time in introducing himself to the two of them. Or, well, he introduced himself to one of them.
Introducing yourself to a giant alien space baby was a bit hard. But he had tried!
The older of the pair, who was more understanding of the situation and conversation, introduced herself as Lydia. She introduced the baby as Junior and profusely apologized for a variety of his behavior within the first few minutes of their meeting.
Jett didn’t find Junior’s behavior off-putting, as he was never one for seriousness. The antics of an oversized baby were the perfect thing to keep him giggling and amused, and he found himself quite adoring of Junior rather quickly. Lydia was friendly as well! Everything he had heard about people from space in stories had been negative, calling them monsters who did horrific experiments! Neither seemed like monsters; instead, they seemed like people Jett would be proud to call friends.
So, when Lydia told him that she was attempting to build a device and told him of the circumstances that led to her desperation, he felt sympathetic to her plight.
Jett's vow to help them build the device did not require convincing.
It turned out to be way easier than he expected it to be. The craft had been flying so close to the ocean's surface because a vital part of the device had fallen into the waves a long time ago. Lydia could not breathe underwater like Jett could, nor did she find navigating the waves and water appealing. These factors made it incredibly difficult to retrieve the part from the bottom of the ocean.
Eager to help, Jett wasted no time departing from the group and diving back into the water he had come from. Lydia had described its location and appearance to him in great detail, stressing every little direction she could to help him. With such detailed guidance, Jett didn’t take long to uncover the necessary parts for Lydia’s device.
Clasping it in his hands, he held the part close to his chest as he returned toward the island he had discovered the two on. Hopefully, with this piece successfully recovered, they would be one step closer to finishing Lydia’s device. He wasn’t sure how much more they needed, nor did he have the technical skill to help with the actual repairing process, but he had contributed no matter how small. Surely, they would need moral support throughout the continued building process?
Lydia’s words of praise greeted him upon his return as he triumphantly gave her the part.
Alien discovery had yielded him two new wonderful friends.
