Ghost sat in the van while his friend did his usual badgering of witnesses and hassling of the locals.
the microbe Terralien was great at getting details especially when it was in regards to the paranormal. Ghost sighed and let himself sink back into the seat, trying to rest a bit while his buddy worked. he was mostly the editor, and he liked going on these adventures but... well talking to people was just the *Worst* part of any investigation. being a total introvert Ghost had zero desire to actually interact with anyone in person. that was Zero's specialty, other people drained Ghost's social batteries so fast there was no quicker way to make him so tired he could sleep for days than having to be near a bunch of people.

He shifted to grab his phone from his jacket pocket but suddenly the device didn't seem to be there.
he checked the other side.
no dice.
he checked the first pocket again.
still not there.

breast pocket, back pocket,
nope, nada.

he opened the door tot he vehicle and started searching the seat and the floor, where could the blasted thing have gone?

"Hey, Ghost, have you seen my tape recorder?" Came Zero's voice from behind him.

Ghost turned and shrugged. "No, I was about to ask you if you'd seen my phone?"

"what a development!" the microbe Terralien chirped, pulling out his notebook. " the residents here have been reporting items going missing ever since the satellite crash!" he said as he tapped the pages enthusiastically.

"but... my phone..." Ghost fussed, looking just, so defeated.

"later! We need to find if there's any correlation between the items that are missing!" Zero was in full investigation mode.
"So we have, radios, phones, recording devices, a toaster? six microwaves a few Televisions... one person reported just the wheels being removed off of every chair in their office, and finally one refrigerator, and two toilets complete with pipes and plumbing."

"Sounds like maybe... parts to repair something?" Ghost suggested, somewhat absently as he recalled all the sci fi movies he and Zero had watched.

"I BET THAT'S IT!" Zero said loudly, bouncing on his toes. "Come on we need to get up to that crash site!"

the shorter Terralien grabbed Ghost by the arm and pulled him along insistently.

"oh Zero no, this seems like an incredibly BAD idea." Ghost groaned as he let his short friend pull him in spite of his protests he couldn't just let the other go alone... he was so annoying any monster would squash him like a bug!
