The toothy mouth-like trap of the plant snapped at the terra researcher who stood a safe distance away, but still close enough to observe the odd plant.
“Interesting… But strange.” Caustic said, “Do you think it’s related to that crash from the other night, Haze?”
The radiation terra shrugged, before replying. “Maybe? Wouldn’t surprise me. It’s not in any known species documents, or recently discovered.”
“True.” Caustic pondered. “I wonder if it’s from our planet, and rapidly mutated from all the bizarre damn occurrences going on lately, or if they came from space.”
Haze just shrugged again, but didn’t say anything.
“At least make note of things if you aren’t going to talk much!” Caustic grumbled. Haze gave a curt nod and pulled both a notebook and a pencil out of his field bag and began making notes. Or sketching. Caustic could never tell with him.
“Think we should’ve brought the merc?” Haze asked, without looking away from the notebook.
“Huh? Ra? What for?” Caustic scowled. “Last time we brought him out for field researcher, he immediately started arguing with me over something benign. Then we both tried to push the other into that lake…”
Haze snickered. “Yeah but he knows the area a lot better than we do. Could tell us if they’re usual, and if they are, let us know how to go about the…” Haze waved the pencil in the air, gesturing it at the strange plants “Fly traps safely.”
“Hm… True. Though since we’ve already walked hours out here, might as well just wait till we get back. Plus, I don’t like him.” Caustic stated.
“You hired him.” Haze replied bluntly.
“…Later. Fair point, but later.” Caustic replied. Haze didn’t say anything, but Haze doesn’t speak much in general so that didn’t bother Caustic. The biohazard terra leaned up again a nearby tree and crossed his arms, while the radhaz terra continued to take notes on the plants.
After a few moments, Haze had finished. “Done, we should head back to town for now, we can come back with more assistance later.
“Hm… Agreed. Though, I was thinking we could also get a team together and see if we can find that crash site. See if it’s related, or if there’s something more to this.”
“Maybe. Timing between those and everything else is a bit too strange to be a coincidence.” Haze shrugged.
Caustic laughed. “I think something big is going to happen”
