The night was full of storm clouds and gleaming stars, the smell of freshly fallen rain was in the air. Building signs flickered illuminating Weston as he walked quickly, his paws dampening in puddles as he hurried home before it got too late. Weston loved the night, the cool air and chirping bugs made him feel like Christmas was coming early. He danced around on the sidewalk, splashing in more puddles, and glancing at his phone occasionally to ensure he was going in the right direction. He was completely unaware of what tonight was, the solar flair. He was too focused on the beautiful night to care even if he did.
The only thing that slowed his pace was when he checked his phone for a moment. It seemingly started to static and eventually shut off, “How peculiar!” Weston thought, “ Well I did forget to charge it at work.” He chalked it up to his forgetfulness, then the flair set to happen tonight. He thought he knew the way home well anyway. With a turn and a twist down the sidewalk, he was most definitely lost, yet he refused to admit it. He saw it as tonight's adventure!
“Well if all comes to it, I could go camping tonight,” He gleefully thought, he loved camping under the starlit night. All was not for a loss! As he continued down unknown territory, he huffed and set off to his new destination, hoping a fence or two would lead him to the woods. Camping was on!
He scrounged around the outskirts of the woods to find the necessary things to make a small hideout under a tree. Once his hard work was completed, he marveled at his accomplishment. “Who knew what a night could lead to such an adventure!” He crawled inside his makeshift little humble of ode and gazed at the stars. He saw the first shooting star he could find and wished his phone would work, he wanted to share this experience with his girlfriend Cake. Though he knew she would have mixed feelings on this adventure.
Just as he was nodding off, he saw the flair in the night sky. Its light licked the stars as it shot out. It wrapped around itself to only vanish, stars fell in its wake. In his tired stupor, Weston truly believed he could reach out and feel its warmth. He was glad he was able to witness such a gorgeous event.
He awoke to his phone buzzing, Cake was trying to call him. She was worried about him, he never came home to their apartment. He reassures her he is fine and only went on an ‘adventure’. She had afew words with him as he stumbled to stand. She had even more as he started his next adventure home.
