Alari’s shadow flew over the pine forest trees as he zipped and dove across the clear sky, his powerful wings keeping his long figure soaring. With several free days in his schedule, all predicted with beautiful weather, Alari decided that a camping trip with some quiet solitude in the gorgeous wilderness of Terrah was in order.
Alari continued deep over the trees, searching quickly for an ideal spot. Banking left to circle around a large lake, he spotted an open patch in the trees not too far away from shore that seemed like a nice spot. Diving down, Alari’s large feathered wings caught himself right before he reached the ground, giving a swift, but gentle landing. Alari gazed around, taking in the sights of this little alcove, and spotting the best trees to make his set up. Within no time, Alari transformed a little patch of land into a cozy camping abode, with a spot for a tent, a campfire, and safely secured some food in nearby trees.
As he finished the knot of his hammock to a tree, Alari’s tiny white wings that were attached to his head fluttered from the sound of a distant commotion. Abandoning his campsite, Alari gently wove through the trees towards the sound. Not far from the camp, Alari debated turning around still, as he was afraid if he wandered any further that he might lose his site, but just as the thought passed through his mind, Alari spotted another clearing with more terraliens gathered. It was obvious that this bunch was trying to camp too, but it was even more obvious that they were struggling with the basics.
“Excuse me, would you all be in need of some assistance?” Alari gently offered as he approached.
“Oh? Oh! Yes! Thank you!” One of the other terraliens replied, right as their buddy threw their arms up in defeat in the war of setting up the tent, “We’re tryin’ campin’ out, but I don’t think any of us know what we’re doing!”
“No worries!” Alari replied, “I can get you guys set up quick.”
The terralien that had answered him thanked him profusely, and began watching as Alari set up their (rather massive) tent, showing where to stake the poles into the ground and how to tie the knots so that it wouldn’t instantly collapse, like what had happened when their poor buddy had tried to do it, who was still off skulking and mumbling in the corner.
“Anything else I can help you with?” Alari asked, rising from a knelt position beside the finished tent.
“Can you show me how to knot this?!” Called out the third member of their group, who was standing some distance away, attempting to tie a cooler of food in a tree. Alari went to work again, showing the confused terralien the best way to rest the cooler in the sturdy branches, and then where the easiest spot to tie the cooler down was, and finally finished by flexing their knot tying skills, by showing them a different, but easier knot than the one they were trying to use.
With their campsite all in order, Alari bid farewell to the three terras, who thanked him graciously for his help. (Except the second one, he was still mumbling to himself about not being able to set up the tent.) With a little bit of uncertainty, but quickly gaining confidence, Alari slinked back through the trees to his campsite, when he abruptly stopped at the tree line. Alari’s own food storage had been knocked down and was strewn all across the ground, his campfire pit had been completely scuffed up and shifted, and laying still in his now-broken hammock was a giant bear, happily snoozing away.
