Mediarri and Luna were looking forward to their camping trip and the opportunity to watch the shooting stars together. They spent the day preparing the camp site, setting up the tent and gathering supplies. As the sun began to set, they lit a campfire and cooked a delicious meal over the flames.
Luna taught Medarri how to net cast down by the river, which wasn't as complicated as Mediarri was making it out to be since the Terralien couldn't figure out the right way to properly cast the net across the stream. Luna showed her by bunching up the net in a tight ball then throwing the line across the river, the small weights brought the new down which allowed Luna to pull the line in that had atleast five good sized fish in it. Mediarri gave this a try but proved that her throw game really was terrible, the best she caught was river weeds and one very angry turtle.
Fish they had caught in nets earlier that day were roasted over the open flames, Luna tried her best but ended up burning her fish. Mediarri shared hers that was only slightly charred, she also planned ahead and had potato's wrapped in tin foil tucked down in the coal so that they had a startchy filler that was warm and soft for tonight. The potato's were cooking inside the tin foil, making a crackling sound as the campfires flame popped and sizzled where both the friends sat across from each other. Mediarri was praising Luna on how she was so good at net fishing, Luna tried explaining that there wasn't alot to it but Mediarri continued to praise her wits and skill. It was because of Luna they weren't eating river weed or a turtle, not that turtle is bad in a soup but fish was on the mind and on the menu for tonight. Luna was just happy to have helped since she lacks Mediarri's upper body strangt and Mediarri set up most of the camp site on her own.
As they ate, they both marveled at the beauty of the night sky and dreamed of the magic of the shooting stars. Mediarri, who had a penchant for astronomy, taught Luna about the constellations and the different types of shooting stars one might see. Pointing out each Constellation while they laid on their backs staring at the stars, watching as a few of them with leave a trail of light across the sky while they shot across the open crisp air. Luna was so excited for this experiance as Mediarri doesn't get out much, but tonight was different. Luna even made them both smores over the campfire to celebrate thier sucessful camping trip, something that neither of them were sure this was going to work out in the end.
As they snuggled in their sleeping bags, they both felt grateful for the opportunity to spend quality time together and experience the wonders of the natural world. Luna looked to Mediarri who's scales would glimmer each time a shooting star passed them, she wondered why Mediarri was always so quiet. Hopeing her friend would come around eventually and tell her what was on her mind. Mediarri was just closed off, her trust had been broken but this camping trip had to be the first time in a long time her little terra critter was smiling as she was watching the stars glittering in the sky. With the peaceful sound of the night crickets as their soundtrack, they drifted off to sleep, dreaming of what tomorrow might bring as Luna had suggested Rock CLimbing but Mediarri wasn't so sure about that.
