It was a warm, sunny day. The bees were buzzing, the flowers were blooming. On days like this, terras like Moss should stay the heck inside. Less they really wanted to feel the heat on their visor and the shine from the sun. The night time was always nicer anyways.
Moss stepped away from their window and into a more shaded part of their hill hut to shield their sensors from such bright lights. Just as quickly as they were to retreat into their cavern in the hillside, they’d hear knocking at the door. Moss cringed as they internally sighed and went towards the light again. With any luck, it’s important.
Moss opened the door and immediately perked up.
Their antenna twitched as their sensors picked up the nearby terra. “Pip! What are you-?”
“LOOK AT WHAT I FOUND!!” The blue ball of fluff screamed over the comms, making the mushroom laden terra jump back.
Moss stared at Pip for a moment. They were clearly holding something. A clear bag with..some sort of brown seed like stuff…yeast? “Did you…want to show me your cooking skills or…?”
Pip shook their head. “N-wait. You have a kitchen? Actually, never mind. Did you know this stuff is, like, a living thing?”
“Noooo?” They blatantly lied. “How cool. And exciting.”
“Yeah! I got this thing-“ Pip pulled out a microscope.
Moss raised a finger. “How did you get tha-“
“Don’t ask.” Pip continued. “Anyways, I was wondering if you maybe wanted to take a look at it. I know it’s a one at a time thing but I thought it’d be cool if we could, I don’t know, just hang out.” Pip’s antenna lowered. “It’s something we can do inside and away from the sun.”
Moss stood there for a moment. They really just went out of their way to find something to do together. “That’s actually really nice of you.” They’d open the door. “Come on in. The lighting might not be perfect for this but I have a few flashlights we can use if we need something more intense.”
Pip would trot inside to the dimly lit cavern and ready the microscope and yeast. Meanwhile, Moss was busy getting pens and notepads along with the flashlights.
“Did you want to look first?” Pip asked.
Moss shook their head. “No, no. You should go first. I can just write down whatever observations you have. This way you can get a real good look.”
Pip practically gasped as they were given the honors. They hooked the tray onto the microscope. “Well get over here! Cool stuff is probably happening already!”
For the next few minutes, Moss would be writing ’And they’re moving’ over and over again. Not that they minded. They were just happy to see Pip happy.
