Yardsales were full of oddities. Strange antiques and obscure objects that had once been entrapped finally seeing the light of day, offered to whatever eager buyer took interest in them. It gave a chance for these peculiarities to find a new home, a home with someone who appreciated them much more than anyone else could. Several people go beyond just appreciation of these objects. They find comfort and solace in the oddities, inquisitive of every strange thing they can grasp in their hands. Jett was one of these people. Having lived bay to bay his whole life, he lacked familiarity with many objects that most terraliens would view as ordinary. Utensils, some accessories, pencils, and anything that had no use by the ocean were unknown and fascinating to him. Through his slow curiosity and exploration of the surrounding towns on the bay, Jett had begun to familiarize himself bit by bit with most everyday objects. However, many still left him awed, and he was always on the lookout to discover more and more about the surface world. When someone had first shown yardsales to him, he had been thrilled by the idea of a gathering of these objects. While he didn't quite understand the concept of money and purchasing these oddities, he was more than glad to take them off the owner's hand. Theft wasn't a concept he grasped well or was concerned with. So yardsales remained a source of innocent fun and curiosity. While it was hard for him to know when they occurred, due to his confinement to the water, there was no hesitation to attend when he did get the opportunity. That brought him to the current yardsale, where he was eyeing many trinkets on the table. They looked to be some jewelry, fittingly nautical-themed, and he kept turning different ones over in his paws. They were all mildly interesting, but he knew their usage, and none of the trinkets particularly stuck out to him. It was hard for him to find a yardsale, to begin with, so it disappointed him to think he might go home empty-handed. Just when he began to feel it was time to head back, an object towards the back of the table caught his eye. Carefully lifting an odd amulet of sorts, he observed what the chain connected to. On it sat engraved metal, an image of two orcas swimming in the same direction around a pearl that sat embedded in the middle. It was quite pretty to look at, but further than just the visual appeal it reminded him of his pod. It reminded him of his adopted brother, Riptide, who had begrudgingly agreed to let him go to the yardsale. Riptide wasn't a fan of Jett leaving the water. It filled him with joy to imagine bringing this to him as a comforting gift. Before the thought fully formed in his head, his grip on it tightened, and he moved away from the yardsale and in the vague direction of the water without hesitation. Yardsales were full of oddities. If the old owners weren't going to give them the love they needed, it was only natural that someone else should.
