August prompt writing submission yummm
Prompt: Microbe study (I think)

Dr. Scope watched as two terras entered his lab. A brown and green Terralien entered first, bubbling with joy at the sight of his amazing lab. A white and dark grey Terralien entered afterwards, its hooves clopping against the floor as it enters. It was none other than Cartin and Skull, who were tasked with inspecting the lab and exploring the vast equipment that Dr. Scope had to offer. Dr. Scope allowed Cartin to take a few pictures of the bacteria he was studying, and Cartin was estactic, asking questions about the equipment each time his camera flashed.

Dr. Scope could notice that Skull was mostly looking at the shiny items in the lab, assessing their value. He attempted to put his paws on a microscope, but quickly stopped once he noticed the disappointed look Dr. Scope was giving him.

"What's this?" Cartin asked the professor, pointing to a microscope which displayed a round, rectangular figure.

Dr. Scope turned around to look at the curious reptillian terra. "Ah, that one..those are called lactobacillus bulgaricus."
"Lacto- whuh?" Cartin asks, tilting their head.
"They are a common bacteria used in a variety of dairy products."
"You mean we eat these things?"
"Precisely. Cheese, yogurt, chocolate, wine...lactobacilli can be found in a lot of fermented products. This type in particular, though, I plan to cultivate."
"For what."
"Yogurt. I've always wanted to try making my own. What better is there to do it but in my own lab?"
"I suppose you're right."

"All that for yogurt, huh?" Skull says, walking forward into the microscope to take a look at the bacteria. "How do you know what type of bacteria it is anyways? They all look the same to me."

"Well, these ones are rod shaped, so therefore they are in the 'Bacillus' bacteria genus-"
The rest of what Dr. Scope had to say seemed to have falled on deaf ears. Cartin tried to pretend that they had listened, standing there and nodding quietly. Skull, however, fell asleep in the short period of time Dr. Scope was speaking for.

Dr. Scope sighed, turning back to look at Cartin.
"You've gotten all the pictures you wanted, right?"
Cartin jumped up and down with glee.
"O-of course! I'd love to make a blog about this, if I may! Your lab is absolutely astounding to look at!" Dr. Scope smiled at the compliment.
"Why, of course! I keep this place spotless for a reason!"
