While Dr. Scope had seen his fair share of abandoned buildings, this one took the cake for being the most unsettling; a feeling he hasn't experienced in quite a long while.
Something that scope found himself aware of was the perfectionism of the 'ideal world'. Where every building followed a set a rules, and cities laid out connecting to each other as if they were pieces of an endless puzzle rolling over the land, as far as the eye can see. But there is no perfect without imperfection in the world, even those below his intellect level know that.
Dr. Scope started exploring abandoned buildings since he was young. While it started out of morbid curiosity combined with the poor decision making that only a hormonal teenager can have, he almost found it cathartic and continued as he got older. Since his view on these abandoned placed has changed as well. These amazing places are meant to be preserved and should be treated as if no one was ever there to prevent vandalism; as his dear friends would say, "don't be a jerk".
The site he was now exploring had taken years of research for him to find.
Thousands of years ago laboratories were unfit and rather cruel compared to today's pristine practices. They could be inhumane and many corrupted practices resulted in the harm of many, although the same studies had also saved lives. Maybe that's why the idea of exploring a lab was so intriguing to Dr. Scope.
As he pushed past the pale glass tubes that had been drained he found himself thinking more about said practices. While he knew logically that nothing biohazardous would have been left behind, a small wiggle of doubt drifted into his stomach. But he knew this wasn't a horror movie. There wouldn't be any bodies hidden amongst the upturned filing cabinets that lined the walls, or anyone else for that matter planning to jump him.
Spotting and then walking towards one of the filing cabinets, he picked one up to examine it. It was splattered with what used to be a watery substance, but had since dried leaving wavy ripples in the paper that distorted the faded words.
He has the resources, and because of his degree Dr. Scope has a reputable reputation, perhaps he should write about his findings and the history of these laboratories that created the baseline for their future, but also the horrors of the past. Dr. Scope felt peace settle within him at the thought, and he whipped out his small notebook to jot the idea down.
