The chatter of passersby and lively music filled the air under the soft aroma of fair foods and treats. The Festival of Creativity was underway, loud and proud like any other year, but Ratha quietly slipped between them all, for his interest was caught on one booth in particular. In a clearing off the side of the main path, sat several benches under umbrellas. It looked like a sitting area for terras to eat food, but supplies lined up on the tables and giant posters plastered about made it obvious what it was: Egg Painting!
Ratha chose a spot situated farthest from the path, at an empty table. Plucking an egg from a carrier in the center, Ratha viewed the selection of paints, markers, and chalk. He had come to the festival for this booth with inspiration and creativity, but it seems he lost it all on the journey, for he couldn’t come up with any ideas. Very softly, however, a song rose over the crowd, a new melody coming from the live band situated not too far away, at the center of the festival. Ratha’s soft ears flickered at the tune, straining to hear it properly. As the melody rose above the noise, a joyous lyricless sound, Ratha’s large tail began swaying back and forth. Ratha began unconsciously picking at colors and materials, matching them to the song. As the final chord rang out, Ratha found himself with a completely finished egg.
Gently caressing the egg as he picked it up, he was about to proudly meander off with his art piece, until he saw a rack of other terra-made eggs on display. Ratha looked down at his egg again. Normally, he wouldn’t be one to show off his art so blatantly, but Ratha felt that this creation would be better off shared in the world. Leaving his egg with a card with his signature on it, Ratha disappeared into the crowd once again, fading into more songs.
