It was a windy March day, so much so that the trees were waving at everybody that walked past. Chester was just trying to make his way down the road to the annual yard sale, where he knew he would find plenty of forgotten treasures to store away and admire. As he did every single year. Despite how shaky his hands could be when interacting with the owner of the yard sale, he was working on it, and over the past few years he had built this confidence, and they were pretty friendly.

He was greeted with a "Hey, Chester. Good to see you." As he finally reached his destination a few houses down, responding with a smile and a nod. There it was. The table of unloved treasures, ready to be taken between his paws and given the attention they deserve, or maybe even handed as a tender gift to his boyfriend. It was always a good time to surprise him with something nice. Everything on this table deserved to be filled with life once again, from the stack of porcelain Russian dolls, to the worn out masquerade mask sat gathering dust. But he had his eyes on something else.

There it sat. Dust covered, yet still managing to glisten in the bitter spring sun. An old, abandoned carousel ornament. It was gorgeous, and he approached it at once, taking it in his palms and giving it a gentle blow to clean off the dust. Chester had fallen in love with it, and just knew that his partner would too! In an excited flurry, he glides his way over to the seller, feeling for his buttons for payment. “Here! Ten buttons? Should that suffice?” He asks, excitement audible in his tone, and he smiles to himself as the seller takes his money. “That's great. Enjoy that thing, I was never able to give it enough love.” Chester had this huge cheesy grin across his face, and nodded as he turned to leave. “Oh, thank you!” He sighed. What a perfect morning.
