Meridia woke up bright and early that morning so she could get to work. She loved this time of year, showing her friends how much she cared about them. She knew everyone had different ways of showing their appreciation, and hers was gift-giving! She pulled a basket out of her closet and filled it with some fake grass, confetti, etc. She thought about it for a moment, and then cleaned out the confetti. As pretty as it was, it didn’t suit the Terra receiving it. She didn’t want to blow it too out of proportion, but still wanted to do something. Out of the closet, she grabbed a few more things: a deer stuffie, some assorted flowers (baby’s breath, edelweiss, and zinnia), and a card. She sat for some time, trying to figure out what to put in the card. With Terras she was closest to, it was easy to write something. For this, she wanted something meaningful, but simple. Finally, she settled with, “Oberon, I hope you like it! Your friend, Meridia”.
She put the card in the envelope and set it in the basket. She adjusted and re-adjusted everything a few times before putting the basket on one of her arms and heading out. She made her way to the foresty parts of Terrah, and she contemplated setting the basket down and leaving until she saw a familiar Terra looming amongst the trees. Her sensors blinked excitedly and she held out the basket. Oberon stepped forward and peered down into the basket. They tenderly reached down and picked up the deer stuffie.
Meridia blinked out “critter”, very softly. Oberon nodded slowly and kept a hold of the stuffie as they looked at the flowers in the basket. Meridia proceeded to explain the meanings of each flower: everlasting love, which she thought was good in relation to Oberon’s former critter; courage and devotion, both of which Meridia thought Oberon embodied; and thoughts of absent friends, again for Oberon’s critter. Meridia explained that she knew it was hard for Oberon, not having his critter around, and that he struggled with it. So, she hoped the stuffie and sentiment helped. Oberon knelt down and slowly patted Meridia on the head, trying to be careful since she was so little, and their claws were large. Meridia beamed excitedly, and peered behind him into the forest. Oberon shook their head and pointed back where Meridia came from, but his sensors blinked slowly in gratitude.
