The sun was starting to set, the sky slowly getting more and more dark, revealing the stars. The new years festival could be heard not too far away as Skittles ran down the trail leading to the lake where it was being held. “New years! I wonder what kind of fireworks are going to be used this year” Skittles said happily. Finally making it to the entrance of the festival, food stands, lanterns, firework sticks, and happy terras were plentiful. A few children chasing each other with firework sticks ran past Skittles. “Oh wow they really went all out this year!” Skittles said, skipping through the crowds of terras. The smell of yummy goodies filled the air, with terras sharing new years treats with each other. Skittles navigated through the crowd, making sure to be careful. The doc of the lake could be seen, crowded with Terras waiting for the skies to be lit up with festive fireworks. Skittles ran over, peering over the doc, the moon now glistening a bright reflection off the water. Seeing an open spot, Skittles hastily ran over, laying down the little quilt blanket from their bag. “Aa, it's getting pretty cold now!” Skittles said opening the canister of hot chocolate. Suddenly the lamps started to dim, signaling the firework show would start soon. Excitedly, Skittles looked up into the sky with anticipation. "Hi, mind if I sit here..?” a low voice said to Skittles right. Skittles peered over to see a terra with carrot ears and a soup filled visor. “Oh, sure!” said Skittles scooting over. “Thanks, my name is Soup,” said the terra. “Nice to meet you Soup, excited for fireworks?” Skittles replied excitedly. “I guess so, although none of my friends went with me this year..” Soup said sadly. “Aw well that's alright, you can enjoy them with me!” said Skittles. “Thanks..!” replied Soup, looking happier. Suddenly a loud boom came from the sky, filled with light. “Oh wow they're starting!” Skittles said excitedly. Soup and Skittles both looked up at the sky in awe as loud booms went off. “Wow, it's really pretty!” said Soup. Fireworks of all different shapes, sizes, and colors filled the skies, showering down to the lake. They both looked in awe as the show went on, all the terras cheering excitedly around them. “Ah it's almost midnight!” said Skittles. “Ready?” said Skittles grabbing Soups paw. “Ah!” Soup said surprised, “Cmon!” Skittles said laughing cheerily. Soup and Skittles started counting down with the other terras, “5! 4! 3! 2! 1!!” “HAPPY NEW YEARS!!” They all cheered with the booming of fireworks in the background. Everyone seemed so happy in the moment, creating an unforgetting memory that was sure to last long through the new year.
