“Oh my gosh it’s gonna fall!” Exclaimed sundae, supporting the bristly pine tree. “Calm down, you can hold it” came from below as Shin was undoing the base that held the old Christmas tree up. “I’m telling you, I can’t hold it for much longer! Do you know how big this tree is?!” He spat back. Shin promptly ignored the complaints. With a snap, Shin finally undid the base, releasing the tree. Sundae wobbled back, the massive tree pushing him to the ground “AAAAAAAAA.” Landing right into the box holding all the Christmas decorations, making them crash everywhere. “SUNDAE” Shin exclaimed, “OUR DECORATIONS.” “THANKS YEAH I'M OK” sundae yelled thru pine needles. Struggling from underneath the tree, Sundae successfully released himself getting up, they both looked around at the mess. “Great, now we gotta put it all back” Shin sighed. “Well it’s not my fault,” replied Sundae. Shin rolled his eyes, “we’re never gonna be ready for new years with you around.” Sundae pouted slightly, ignoring Shin. “Welp, time to clean up” Shin said picking up the red string lights in front of him. Sundae groaned. One at a time, they put every ornament and decoration neatly into the box, well, somewhat neatly. The only thing left now was to haul the tree out. “Alright Sundae, you pick up the base and I’ll get the top, be careful this time,” “just for the record, you're the one walking backwards,” he grumbled. Hoisting up the tree, Shin walked carefully backwards towards the door. A crisp breeze bringing in the air of Spring made its way into the house. “Hey it’s getting warmer out,” Shin said as they walked outside to the truck. “Meh, it’s still pretty chilly,” Sundae replied, shaking some pine needles off him from earlier. “Alright, 1, 2, 3!” Shin counted, as they both lifted the tree up into the back of the truck. “Perfect, now we gotta go clean up that pine needle trail, suppose it is time for a spring cleaning anyways, to start the new year.” Shin said reluctantly, walking up to the front door. “More cleaning? Great,” Sundae said, trekking back in. Shin grabbed the broom, sweeping the pine needles outside as Sundae wiped down the counters and windows. They cleaned for the rest of the day, leaving the house spotless. Shin flipped up the calendar, now in January 2024, “perfect! We’re all ready now.” “Hey Shin, come over here!” Sundae said, staring out the window. Shin walked over, joining him. “Ohhh, it’s a meteor shower!” He said. “You gotta make a wish!” Sundae said. “Haha alright alright,” Shin replied, closing his eyes, thinking. “Alright, I made my wish, what about you?, he said looking at Sundae. “Yep! I bet it’s gonna come true too!”, he said confidently. “Uhh, righttt” Shin replied. “Well anyways, what a good start to the new year, I hope both our wishes come true,” Shin said, staring out the window as bright streaks flew through the sky. “Same,” Sundae replied.
