Written - Rainy Day Prompt - 429 words
Saltine silently walked along the water's edge, keeping a close watch on the ground, both for his footing and for what he's after. The sand had a habit of obscuring things. Rocks, sticks, shells...Sometimes even shoes, and he especially didn't care to trip on that last one and lose everything he has found so far. Those of course also being the aforementioned rocks, sticks, shells and shoes. The first three he keeps, sells or gifts to others, and the last one he brings to the lost and found. Or whatever lost pieces of property Terra's leave behind on the beach, especially on days where the weather rolls in fast. Saltine figured not everyone is a fan of the beach during rain or storms but that's understandable. It gets cold and windy and the waves get restless. Which, to this blue-grey Terra was the best time to come to the beach, the last chance to gather everything before some of it is swept for good, or at least a very long time.
The dull gray clouds had already begun weeping as told by the light raindrops tapping on his face. He shook his head to clear some of the water from it, but not too fast as to make the crab in his terrarium dizzy.
"Maybe I should've brought an umbrella…" or at least a lid. The marine Terra thought to himself. He didn't mind getting wet so much as he didn't want his bucket to fill up with water. Since this would make it increasingly heavier and possibly even waterlog some of the objects he wished to return
Though, to be frank he didn't exactly expect the rain to come as quickly as it did after the clouds rolled in. Same for some of the other Terra's he saw vaguely in the distance too, they looked to be leaving. Rest of them didn't look like they minded the watery weather however.
Saltine turned and stopped under a nearby palm tree, one of the many that inhabited the sandy landscape. He looked back from the direction he came. Halfway? I have time I think. The terra sat beneath the tree, out of the rain. He knew this beach like the back of paw, and sometimes he forgets how quickly he traverses it when he's busy. Looking out towards the sea and watching the rain fall around him, he figure he could take a break for a moment. The marine Terra wondered if rain had a pattern to it's descent, or simply just fell randomly as the clouds slid by. Either way, the light rain had a relaxing atmosphere, unlike the rain last week.
