Cocoa awoke softly to the gentle sound of shifting snow outside her window. Rising from the comfy piles of blankets and comforters, Cocoa looked outside her window to witness the first swirling snow of the season.
"Oh how wonderful!" Cocoa thought to herself, "the perfect weather for a perfect day inside!" Cocoa slid out of bed and started their normal routine of getting ready for the day.
"Oh, but what to do on this Saturday inside?" Cocoa as she brushed her hair, carefully combing through the natural swirl of chocolate in her otherwise white hair. As she patted down the stairs to the first floor, into the living room, Cocoa spied the old vinyl record player she had been gifted by another terra not too long ago. She had yet to actually use it though, and it had thus been sitting, collecting dust in the corner of her living room.
"Hmm, I wonder," Cocoa thought as she made her way over to it, sliding the record player from the corner into the middle of the room on the wheeled cart it sat on. Beneath the top of the cart, where the record player rested, was a shelf that held a cardboard box of records that were gifted alongside the player. Cocoa took out the box and began browsing the collection until, with a satisfied hum, she pulled out an album titled "Have A Holly Jolly Christmas, Burl Ives." The music began to play as Cocoa dragged out a huge cardboard box and opened it, revealing baubles, lights, and other festive coverings.
Her intent was to have a little festive cheer in the air as she decorated her house in the name of the Christmas spirit, but as she hung tiny, fake stockings on her window sill, Cocoa couldn’t stop the little pep in her step during "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer." And by the time "A Holly Jolly Christmas" started playing, the pep had turned into a swing, as Cocoa twirled around the fireplace, nearly missing the hooks on the mantle meant to hang decorative stockings. She jumped and twirled and pranced around the house, tossing the lights up and around, guiding the remaining loop along with her waltzes. She sidestepped her way through the kitchen to the beat of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town," all the while grabbing dish towels and fabric coverings and replacing them with festive, much more sparkly dish towels and fabric coverings. Cocoa’s Christmas tree, a small white faux pine, was quickly and densely decorated to each ra-bum-pa-pa-bum! of "The Little Drummer Boy," until Cocoa accidentally knocked it over with her tail while spinning back to the box of ornaments, and had to hustle to pick up the baubles that now decorated the ground more than the tree. With "Winter Wonderland" came garlands of tinsel that she used a rolling ladder to slowly swing around the house, gently trimming the rooms to the calming song. And at last, when "Christmas Can’t Be Far Away" came to a crackling end on the player, Cocoa found herself sitting at the window, gazing wistfully out at the snowy landscape. With a satisfied sigh, she turned back to her room, only to be startled at the horrid state of her house. Tinsel was falling off the places she had hung it from, her kitchen was covered in what looked like an explosion of decorative towels, the tree was tilted to one side over the sheer amount of ornaments that were just thrown on it, the stockings on the mantle were all crooked and mismatched, and scatterings of glitter, pine needles, and stray tinsel and string littered the ground. She looked about the room, surprised in the chaos she had somehow had the power to possess.
"Perhaps I need to rearrange some things," Cocoa chuckled internally, "but next time, I’ll do so without any music."
